On Sunday morning Lodds faced a strong Buckland team and for the first time this season lost at home in the league. It was evident that Bucks hadn’t played the previous day as they made the early running and indeed took a deserved lead on fifteen minutes when a deflected shot left Rob Head stranded.

With Bucks comfortable in possession, Lodds had to work hard but gradually got themselves into the match with Price and Hillard having shots saved just before half time, with Robey also unlucky after a great run. Bucks experienced defenders thwarted anything Lodds could muster in the second half, thus giving their midfield plenty of the ball, with their striker playing the lone role intelligently.

Bucks were awarded a dubious penalty midway through the half which they converted and minutes later missed a guilt edge chance to further increase their lead. On the day there can be no qualms that the best team won and indeed they should go on to clinch the title, but Lodds couldn’t help but feel a little aggrieved at the way both goals were conceded.

Lodds need to pick themselves up for their remaining 3 fixtures to ensure a top 4 finish is secured.
