Loddiswell

Gomm (FK)

Thursday 8th April 2010

Loddiswell: Drews, Harvey, Hurrell, Anniss, D.Stathers, Moore (Hillard 25min),
Hallett (M.Edmonds 75min), Gomm, Robey, Smallridge, R.Tapper (L.Hammett 45min).

Although Lodds started well and made all the early running, they only had a 1-0 lead to show from it; with Gomm scoring direct from a free kick after 15 minutes. Other chances were missed, notably from Tapper, Smallridge and Anniss, and Fords punished this before half time when their striker reacted quickest to a rebound.

With the second half being end-to-end, Lodds again missed chances when Hammett hit the bar from close range with Smallridge hitting the rebound wide. Robey’s pace caused problems, but he was always closed down before managing to get a shot away.

Fords scored the winner on the counter attack after a run down the left saw their winger pull the ball back which found the right winger in space. His excellent first time shot from 20+ yards flew into the top corner, leaving Drews with no chance. Unfortunately Lodds failed to really test the keeper in the last 15 minutes and Fords hung on for the win. This was a well contested game that Lodds were disappointed not to get anything from.
