Loddiswell went into this midweek match knowing that victory was imperative if they were to stay in the hunt for promotion. With this in mind they started well, immediately taking the game to Riveria. Lodds were having joy down the flanks; however the crossing wasn’t up to standard. After a few corners, Lodds finally took the lead when Hurrell controlled and scored with a half volley into the bottom corner. From the restart, Lodds won the ball back and increased their lead when Robey was on hand to convert. This seemed to deflate Riveria and Lodds controlled the remainder of the half. Price curled in the third after he latched onto Maher’s excellent through-ball.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Lodds having the majority of possession, with Drews in goal being a virtual spectator. The back four of Harvey, Hurrell, Hallett and Luscombe only really had to deal with long clearances such was the dominance of Tapper, Maher, Hillard, Price, Smallridge and Robey. Once Hurrell headed in his second goal from a Price corner, the result was never in doubt. Stathers and Raymont were introduced and both settled into the game well. From another Price corner; Hurrell grabbed a well deserved hat-trick with a powerful downward header. Robey further increased the lead when he was left unmarked at the far post to head in Tapper’s excellent cross. The scoring was completed when Price smashed the ball into the bottom corner after good build up play.
