Loddiswell Reserves: Teague, Rowe, A.Tapper (Williams 70 min), D.Stathers (C), S.Elliott (C), M.Edmonds, Bateman, Tucker, A.Edmonds, Guard.

Due to heavy traffic on the journey over to Torquay, Lodds arrived with minutes remaining until kick-off, and the visitors never really recovered from their rushed start as they gave four soft goals away.

However, there were signs that with better ball retention Lodds could score goals themselves, as chances fell to Guard, Bateman, Mark and Andy Edmonds. It was the former Edmonds brother that finally netted for Lodds when he got in behind his full back to coolly lob the ball over the on rushing 'keeper. Moments later he could have added a second in identical circumstances, only this time the ball just cleared the bar.

Lodds struggled to deal with the hard pitch again and Babbacombe, playing on home 'concrete' took full advantage to increase their lead to 6-1 by half time.

The second half was all about regaining some pride, and the Greens showed some signs that this would be achieved as they enjoyed good possession in the Babbacombe half, however, a break away saw the home side add a seventh goal.

It was at this point that Lodds brought on Williams as they looked to get something from the half. Again they enjoyed the lion's share of possession but time after time were thwarted by the bounce of ball when it came to getting a shot or header in on goal.

Eventually, Guard managed to get a touch in the six yard box to net Lodd's second and moments later the same player looked on in disbelieve when his legs were taken from underneath him as he was about to shoot - no penalty!

Lodds only have a few days to wait before taking on Babbacombe again, and they will know from their second half performance, that a better 90-minute display could reverse this 7-2 defeat.
